Employee Relations Specialist

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

A vacancy has arisen for the role of Employee Relations Specialist to work as part of the HR Operations team delivering a high quality and effective advisory service. Operating as a HR expert to advise, guide and support colleagues and managers on a wide range of HR matters ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Influence, support and coach managers on a full range of people management matters including probation, investigation, discipline and grievance, complex absence cases, performance and flexible working requests.
  • Management of employee relations case work (up to and including dismissal) across the business ensuring all cases are managed efficiently, effectively and in line with company policies and employment legislation.
  • Proactive management of absence in liaison with Occupational Health and H&S/Wellbeing programmes; reducing absence and associated costs.
  • Work in partnership with external providers such as Legal Advisors and Occupational Health to gain professional advice to support in case management.
  • Maintaining records of case management and assisting with the analysis of this data to identify trends and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Upskill and coach managers to independently conduct employee relations casework based on the circumstances of the case and business risk.
  • Creating and delivering training workshops for managers to enhance understanding of best practice.
  • Proactively build and maintain strong, professional and effective working relationship with managers, employees and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of new policies and the review of existing policies in line with business need ensuring alignment with UK legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead or support on HR projects.
  • Travel to Liberata / Client sites as required.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CIPD level 5 or comparable business experience. 
  • A broad range of experience at HR Advisor/HR Officer level and proven ability to manage multiple complex employee relations cases (up to and including dismissal).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide concise and clear advice.
  • Experience of reviewing and developing people policies.
  • Ability to analyse data in order to identify trends and propose solutions.
  • Experience of upskilling managers through coaching and the delivery of training on HR processes.
  • Knowledge of current employment law.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment is desirable.

All successful candidates must meet the government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).

  • External candidates: The BPSS includes a basic criminal record check (for unspent convictions). There will also be an Adverse Financial Check (AFC) which will be renewed annually. An Adverse Finance Check looks for CCJs, IVAs, bankruptcies, Scottish decrees, or Administration Orders.
  • Internal candidates: An annual adverse finance check will be required.
