Revenues Assistant (Recovery)

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are seeking to recruit a Revenues Assistant for the Recovery Team. The role will involve but is not limited to the following.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Process recovery documents for Council Tax accounts\payers for Borough of Pendle, using their Northgate and Comino systems.
  • Ensure accounts are amended at the earliest opportunity.
  • Deal with correspondence in respect of payment queries and disputes against methods recovery taken and send replies in letter and email.
  • Make and receive calls from customers regarding their accounts to discuss repayment of arrears
  • Make and receive calls from third parties eg. Employers, Enforcement Agents, money advice services.
  • Have a good understanding of billing functions, incl discounts and exemptions, and Council Tax Support
  • Support the Contact Centre staff when recovery notices are issued.
  • Check and manage reports, sometimes on a rota basis.
  • Process recovery administrative tasks, eg. Sending/receiving files with external agencies/parties as required
  • Attend Court on a regular basis to assist the Recovery Team Manager in dealing with taxpayers who have been summoned to attend Court due to non-payment.
  • Ensure requests for supporting evidence are clear and concise.
  • Ensure information relating to customers for other service lines or third party agencies, eg. Enforcement Agents or support/advice agencies is provided at the earliest opportunity.
  • Undertake tracing function for account payers\debtors.
  • Ensure the Performance Management tool is completed accurately and weekly performance table provided to the Line Manager in a timely manner.
  • Play an active role in performance reviews
  • Ensure knowledge is kept up to speed in relation to Liberata and site
    policies.
  • Any other job related activities as required

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with minimum of 5 grades A-C including English and Maths.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers and other external agencies.
  • A proactive approach to debt recovery.
  • Able to produce high quality and accurate documentation.
  • Be an active member of the team and able to assist other team members when required to meet KPIs and SLA.
  • Flexible approach to work in terms of managing peaks in workload and to undertake overtime during peak periods if required.
  • Able to work on your own initiative and to meet agreed targets by prioritising and planning.

Security vetting and checks:

If you are successful, you will need to comply with the government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard Verification process, this includes a basic criminal record check which will identify any “unspent” convictions and a financial probity check which will check if a CCJ, IVA, Bankruptcy, Decree in Scotland, Administration Order appears on a credit file, if you are unable to meet these requirements your offer may be revoked.
